Mark Dubowitz

Mark Dubowitz is the Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, the Washington-based national security think tank he has led since 2010 and which has become the preeminent institution for Iran sanctions strategy, Islamist threat analysis, and policy architecture supporting the U.S.-Israel alliance. Born and educated in Canada, Dubowitz holds a law degree from the University of Toronto and an MBA from the Schulich School of Business at York University, and came to Washington in the mid-2000s with a background that combined financial analysis with security policy research — an unusual combination that proved decisive in making him the most credentialed architect of Iran's financial isolation.
